Suspects Found In Possession Of Unlicensed Firearms

On Friday, 5 November 2021, Kwadukuza SAPS Crime Prevention successfully nabbed three suspects found in possession of two unlicensed firearms, live rounds of ammunition and dangerous weapons.

Members of Kwadukuza SAPS Crime Prevention together with Kwadukuza SAPS Community Service Centre members reacted swiftly after receiving information about suspects in possession of illegal firearms in the Ntshawini area. Members recovered two unlicensed firearms, 23 illegal live rounds of ammunition and one knife.

The following suspects were arrested and charged at Kwadukuza SAPS, a 26 year old male was arrested and charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and live rounds of ammunition, a 30 year old male was arrested and charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and live rounds of ammunition, and an 18 year old male was arrested for being in possession of live rounds of ammunition and a dangerous weapon.

The three suspects aged between 18 and 30 years old will appear at Kwadukuza Magistrates’ Court in due time.

Kwadukuza SAPS Station Commander, Brigadier SF Mhlongo commended members for their excellent work in recovering two unlicensed firearms and live rounds of ammunition. “I applaud our members for recovering these illegal firearms and live rounds of ammunition from the streets of Kwadukuza, as we are approaching Festive Season and these firearms could be used in dangerous crimes and lives can be lost”, she said. “We have a zero tolerance approach to all illegal firearms and live rounds of ammunition and we will be leaving no stone unturned in ensuring all illegal firearms are removed from the Kwadukuza area”, she added.
